Richard James Brusca Sr., of Sudlersville, MD died Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at University of Maryland. He was 76.

Richard was born May 8, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late Henry Brusca Sr. and Isabel McCloskey. He graduated from Abington High School and enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. While serving in the Guard he and Monica were married and lived in State College and Philadelphia before settling down in Sudlersville in 1972. Richard was a member of the Sudlersville Lion’s Club where he served as president and zone chairman. He was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marydel where he served as an usher. Richard enjoyed traveling with his family, taking cruises, working, farming, and talking politics.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Brusca, and son-in-law, Jeff Dwyer.

He is survived by his wife Monica Brusca of Sudlersville, MD, daughter Lisa Dwyer of Sudlersville, MD, son Richard “Ricky” Brusca Jr. of San Clemente, CA, brother Henry Brusca Jr. of Jenkintown, PA, sister Margaret Mooney of Glenside, PA, sister Patricia Dillon of Spring House, PA, brother William Brusca of Horsham, PA, sister Mary Romanzo of Horsham, PA, three grandchildren, Megan Orr of Kennedyville, MD, Lauren Orr of Sudlersville, MD, Kaitlyn Dwyer of Aberdeen, MD and two great-grandchildren, Cali and Mason.

February 13, 1969 - August 24, 2017

Jeffrey D. Dwyer, 48 of Sudlersville MD died Thursday evening Aug 24, 2017, in Shore Medical Center, Chestertown as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Jeff was born and raised in Chesterville, MD son of William H. Dwyer Sr., Bonnie Jean Lancaster Clough, and step-son of Ronnie L. Clough. He was a 1987 graduate of Kent Co. High School and from 1988-1994 proudly served his nation in the United States Army, with nearly 4 years of overseas duty including Desert Storm, as a Military Policeman obtaining the rank of Sgt. He continued to serve with the Maryland National Guard until 2001.

Upon his discharge from active duty, he worked in law enforcement with the Town of Denton and Kent Co. Sheriff’s Office. In 2002 he went to work for his future father-in-law at Richard Brusca Nursery in Sudlersville.

He was a 35 year Life Member of the Galena Vol. Fire Co. where he currently held the position of President. He had also been on the Board of Directors, was a past lieutenant and Fire Police. He was a Charter Member and the 1st President of the Maryland Chapter #7 Red Nights, the NRA and attended Holden’s Chapel. Jeff loved his motorcycle, hunting and fishing, Ravens football but most of all his family.

Along with his parents, Jeff is survived by his wife of 8 years Lisa Brusca Dwyer, a daughter Kaitlyn Rae Dwyer (Jeff) of Aberdeen, step-daughters Lauren Nicole Orr and Megan Elizabeth Orr (Jason Leager) grandchildren Cali Lynn and Mason Tyler Leager all of Sudlersville, brother William H. Dwyer Jr. (Maria) of Marydel; niece Stephanie Price (John), nephews William H. III and John Thomas Dwyer and great-nieces Emma Elizabeth and Rylie Renee Dwyer.
